In 1732-33 Telemann published the 12 Fantasies for 'transverse flute without bass'. The composer uses the Fantasie structure as a vehicle for highly variable musical forms and means of expression. Telemann described the 1716 Little Chamber Music as 'consisting of 6 Partiten, arranged in a light singing manner for the violin, transverse flute, and keyboard.'
